About Middle Holly Cottage...

Middle Holly Cottage was originally built in 1820, and as the name implies, the middle building of 3 Holly Public Houses within 3/4 of a mile of each other, on the then main road.

The road was part of the main route North to Scotland, but with improvement of the A6 and the construction of the M6 it now has a quiet and peaceful outlook over countryside.

A short distance away is the historic city of Lancaster owned by Her Majesty the Queen and the Duke of Lancaster. Guided tours of Lancaster Castle open daily 10am – 5pm, where the dungeons can be seen, with the drop room, the ‘Hanging Corner’ and the court where many convicts were sentenced to transportation to Australia.
